Suction Cup Dent Puller — 2.24 in Cup for Shallow Dents in Metal and Plastic Panels
Regular price $11.95

The trolley, the car park, the door

Some dents come back out with a cup and a pull.

Not every dent needs a body shop. A shallow, smooth dimple in a door skin or a wing — the kind a trolley, a stray football or a careless neighbour leaves — is a panel pushed in, not metal torn. Press a suction cup over it, pull straight, and the panel often snaps back to where it started. No heat, no filler, no drilling, and nothing touching the paint but rubber.

2.24 in cup

About 57 mm across — sized for a dimple, not a crater

2.8 in tall

About 71 mm — fits a glovebox, not a toolbox

Metal or plastic panels

Anything smooth and painted that flexes

Nothing sticks to the paint

Suction only — no glue tabs, no residue

What it actually does

Press, twist, pull straight

Wet the rim and the panel, press the cup down over the middle of the dent until the rubber flattens, then pull square to the surface — not at an angle. A shallow dent gives with a dull pop and the panel returns most of the way. Work the edges after, with two or three smaller pulls around the rim rather than one heroic yank in the centre.

The handle is a cage rather than a knob for a reason: you can get four fingers through it and pull in line with the cup, which is the only direction that actually moves metal.

The part nobody tells you

A crease will not come out. Ever.

This is the difference between a tool that works and a tool that disappoints, and almost nobody explains it before you buy. A shallow dent is elastic: the panel is bowed inwards but the steel has not stretched, so releasing it lets the panel find its old shape. A crease is different — a sharp line where the metal has been stretched thin. The extra metal has nowhere to go, and no amount of pulling puts it back. That is body shop work, with shrinking and filler.

Three more things decide whether the cup even grips. The surface has to be smooth: a textured plastic bumper, a matte wrap or a gritty panel breaks the seal. It has to be clean and slightly damp — dry dust is what most failed attempts have in common. And the dent needs to be in a panel that can flex; a dent directly over a brace, a door frame edge or a swage line is held by the structure behind it and will not move.

Judged honestly, this pulls shallow dimples in door skins, wings and bonnets. It is not a slide hammer and it is not a glue-tab kit, and on the wrong dent it will do nothing at all.

Three options

One cup, or a pair that works together

One is enough for the dent you are looking at today. Two changes what you can do: a long, shallow dent comes out more evenly when you pull from both ends, and a pair is what you want for lifting a flat panel or a sheet of glass with a grip on each side.

A single suction cup dent puller

1 puller

The one-dent answer. Lives in the door pocket for the next car park.

Three suction cup dent pullers together

2 or 3 pullers

Two hands on a long dent, or a cup at each end of a panel you are lifting. The third is the one you lend out and do not get back.

Straight answers

Three things we would rather you knew now

Shallow and smooth only. If you can feel a sharp line with a fingernail, or the paint has cracked, this is not the tool. Suction pulls a bowed panel; it cannot un-stretch metal.

It needs a seal to work at all. Smooth, clean, slightly damp. Textured bumper plastic, matte wraps and dusty panels defeat it — that is the tool failing to grip, not the dent refusing to move.

No weight rating is published. People use these to lift glass, screens and flat panels, and the shape invites it. The maker gives no safe working load, so we will not print one — do not put anything over a hand or a foot on the strength of a rubber cup.

Questions people ask

Before you order

What size dent will it actually pull?

A shallow, round dimple roughly within the footprint of the cup — up to about the size of your palm, with smooth edges and no sharp line. Bigger dents can be worked in stages from the outside in, but the deeper and sharper it is, the less suction has to grip.

Will it damage the paint?

Nothing touches the paint except wet rubber, so there is no glue residue and nothing to sand off. Wipe the panel before you press it down — grit trapped under the rim is the only realistic way to mark the surface.

Does it work on a plastic bumper?

On a smooth painted bumper, yes — plastic is often more willing than steel because it flexes further. On the textured, unpainted plastic of a lower bumper or an arch liner, no: the cup cannot seal against the grain.

It will not stick. What am I doing wrong?

Usually a dry or dirty surface. Clean the panel, wet the rim of the cup and the paint, press firmly until the rubber flattens and the cup sits down, then pull. If it releases with a hiss every time, the surface is textured or the dent is too deep for the rim to seat around it.

Can I use it to lift a glass panel or a screen?

People do, and the cup grips flat glass well. But the maker publishes no safe working load, so treat it as a handle for guiding a panel you are already supporting — not as the thing holding the weight.

Why would I want two or three?

A long, shallow dent pulls out straighter with a cup at each end and an even pull, and a pair gives you a grip on both sides of a panel you are lifting or carrying. One is plenty for a single dimple.

My dent did not come out. Now what?

If the panel did not move at all, the dent is creased, braced from behind, or too deep for the cup to seal around. That is a paintless dent repair job — a technician working from behind the panel with rods — and no suction cup substitutes for it.

Is this the same as a glue puller kit?

No. Glue kits stick a plastic tab to the paint and pull it with a bridge or a slide hammer, which grips harder and is fussier — glue, heat, release fluid, and a risk to old or repainted panels. This is the thirty-second version: no adhesive, no residue, and nothing to buy again.
