The whole kit
Receiver, plug-in transmitter and the zip case they travel in.
Breaker finder · Outlet tester · US plug
Plug the transmitter into a live outlet, walk to the panel, and sweep the receiver over the breakers. It signals at the one that feeds that outlet, so you do not have to flip breakers one by one while someone shouts from the other room. The transmitter also checks the outlet's wiring on three lights. Read this first: the finder only tells you which breaker to switch off. Before you touch any wiring, confirm the circuit is dead with a voltage tester.
One kit: the receiver, the plug-in transmitter with a US 3-prong plug, and the zip case shown in the maker's photo. The receiver needs one 9V battery, which is not included.
Find the breaker without the guessing
Panel labels are often wrong, faded or missing. Plug the transmitter into the outlet, sweep the receiver over the panel, and it signals at the breaker carrying the transmitter's tone. The receiver has its own flashlight, because panels tend to live in dark corners.

Two pieces, two jobs
The transmitter plugs into the outlet and puts a signal on that circuit. The receiver picks the signal up at the panel. A slide switch on the transmitter changes it from Breaker Find to Socket Test, where its three lights report how the outlet is wired.
The maker says the receiver adjusts its sensitivity automatically, so there is no dial to turn while you sweep the panel.
The receiver has a small light at the front for basements, closets and garages where the panel is hard to read.
In Socket Test the lights show one of the conditions on the chart: correct, open ground, open live, open neutral, live and ground reversed, or live and neutral reversed.
The receiver warns you when its 9V battery is running down, according to the maker.
The chart on the transmitter is the maker's own. A three-light tester cannot detect every wiring fault.
The specifics
Every figure here is the maker's own. Where the label on the unit and the written listing disagree, we print both rather than pick one.
receiver battery
One 9V block. Not included.
outlet lights
On the transmitter, read against the chart.
conditions on the chart
One correct, six wiring faults.
receiver length
198 mm on the maker's drawing.
* Marked figures are the maker's own and are not measured by us.
A plug-in transmitter and a handheld receiver for tracing an outlet back to its breaker, with a three-light outlet wiring check.
The 9V battery for the receiver is not included. The maker does not print a contents list; the zip case is the one shown in its photo.

How to use it

Set the switch to Breaker Find and plug the transmitter into the outlet you want to trace. To check the outlet's wiring first, slide it to Socket Test and read the three lights against the chart.
Put a 9V battery in the receiver, switch it on and run the tip slowly down the row of breakers. The sound changes as the signal gets stronger or weaker, and the maker says a continuous beep marks the target breaker. Go over the whole panel once, then again more slowly.
Switch that breaker off. The lights on the transmitter should go out. Then confirm with a voltage tester before you do any work on the circuit.
The outlet has to be live for the finder to work, so a dead outlet cannot be traced this way. And however clear the signal is, treat the circuit as live until a voltage tester says otherwise.
