The pointer finds the step
The blade sits in the corner where the casing meets the floor. A tape measure cannot follow that corner; the pointer simply traces around it.
23 cm · pointer and roller ends · locking pencil slide
Walls wander and door casings step in and out. Run the pointer along the real edge and the pencil in the slide draws the same line on the piece you are about to cut, shifted by the distance you set. One thing to know first: the maker publishes a single measurement, 23 cm, and no instructions, so this page describes what its photographs show and says so where they leave a question open.
Buy 2, get 1 free: three complete tools for the price of two single tools, so the third one is free, and the order ships free. The saving shown is that free tool; shipping is not counted in it, since two single tools also reach $49 and ship free. One tool on its own comes in under $49 and ships for $4.95 unless the rest of your cart takes the order to $49.
Scribe the edge, cut to the line
A tape measure tells you how wide the gap is at one spot. This follows the whole edge: the pointer rides the wall or the casing, and the pencil in the locking slide draws that same line on the piece you are fitting.

What you are looking at
Two orange rails joined by a black piece at each end, with a slot between them. A pointer sticks out of one end, a pair of small bearings sits on the other, and a black slide carrying the pencil runs in the slot.
A thin pointed blade at the head is the part that touches the wall, the casing or the molding. It is narrow enough to sit in the step of a door casing, which is where the maker's own photo shows it.
The black slide has a clamp for the pencil at one end and a ribbed pad for your thumb at the other. Push it along the slot and the pencil moves closer to the pointer or farther from it.
A brass-colored knurled wheel sits in the middle of the slide, directly behind the pencil clamp. The maker's photo of the tool in use also shows a row of fine teeth along the inside of one rail, beside the slide. The maker sells the tool as “with lock” and does not say which of the two holds the slide.
The tail carries a pair of small bearings. The maker's photos show them clearly and never show them at work; the questions further down say what we make of that.
Described from the maker's photographs. We have not taken one apart.
The specifics
There are fewer numbers here than on most of our pages, because the maker publishes fewer. One measurement comes from its own graphic. The rest of the table is what its photographs show, and the rows that say not published mean exactly that.
overall length
About 9 in. The maker prints 9.17 inch beside it, which is not 23 cm.
a pointer and a roller
A pointed blade at the head and a pair of small bearings at the tail.
on the pencil slide
Brass-colored, behind the pencil clamp. What it tightens is not published by the maker.
orange and black
Orange rails with black ends. It comes in one color.
* The marked figure is the maker's own and is not measured by us.
A hand scribing tool: a follower at each end and a pencil slide that locks between them. No photo shows a numbered scale on it, so it copies a line; it does not measure one.
The single is one tool. Buy 2, get 1 free is three complete tools: you pay for two and the third is free. The maker's photos show a wooden pencil with the tool, but its listing never lists the contents, so we do not promise one.
Where it earns its keep
The maker shows the tool at work in one photograph, and these are three close views of it. The same move, follower on the fixed edge and pencil on the loose piece, is how a countertop is fitted to a wall or a baseboard to a floor. The maker does not show those jobs, so we are not showing them either.

The blade sits in the corner where the casing meets the floor. A tape measure cannot follow that corner; the pointer simply traces around it.

The pencil stands in the clamp on the slide, at the offset set before the pass. Whatever path the pointer takes, the pencil takes the same one, that far to the side.

The stepped line on the plank is the casing's profile, moved over by the offset. That is the cut that lets a plank go around a casing instead of stopping short of it.
Using it

Lay the piece where it will go, as close to the edge as it will sit. Slide the pencil holder until the pencil is as far from the pointer as the widest gap you have to close, then tighten the thumb wheel and check that neither the pencil nor the slide moves.
Keep the pointer on the wall, the casing or the molding and draw the tool along it. Hold it at the same angle to the edge all the way: let it swing and the distance to the pencil changes, and the line with it.
The pencil has drawn the edge onto your piece, moved over by the offset. Cut on the waste side of the line and test the fit before you trim any closer.
The maker publishes no instructions for this tool. These three steps are how a scribing tool is used and what the maker's own photo shows. How the slide locks is not published: the photos show a thumb wheel behind the pencil clamp and fine teeth inside one rail, so make sure both the pencil and the slide hold before you mark.
One tool, or buy 2 get 1 free
A scribing tool is only as useful as the setting it is holding, and one tool holds one. Buy 2, get 1 free puts three in your hands for the price of two single tools. This is what changes with three, and what does not.
